Model: Archer AX73
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

I am very new to VPNs on routers but I am slowly gettinh there.

I am in the process of setting up NordVPN on my AX73 router using OpenVPN.

Under Advanced/Network/Routing several network destonations are shown each with a VPN interface. As far as I can see all necessary settings are as expected.

My systen comprises a Virgin Media 250 GB MB/s connection passing through a Virgin Media Hub 3.0 (set to run im modem mode) then through the AX73. I have read somewhere that, because of the intervening Hub 3.0 mdem, I will need to ford forward the necessary port. I have read velsewhere that this is not necessary.

Please advise me on the correct path to follow.

Hi,

If your are setting up a connection to NordVPN, then it means you are using the AX73's "VPN Client" feature.

For VPN Client you don't need to forward any ports. Just upload the *.ovpn file you've got from NordVPN into the VPN Client of your AX73 and it should work.

Port forwarding is needed in certain cases when using the router's "VPN Server" feature.
