Model: Archer NX200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 3.0.0 v60a2.0 Build 240519 Rel.754n

Hello, I have just purchased this modem but sadly i have 2 problems with it. My first problem is when i set network mode to 5G only the router wont connect to the internet or find any bands to connect to, no matter if i use my external antenna (Poynting XPOL-2-5G) or the built in ones. However If i set it to, 5G/4G/3G mode it finds a 5G band to connect to and i have an internet connection.

5G only mode

5G/4G/3G mode

And my second problem is when i try to search for 5G bands manually it wont find the ones that it would connect automatically, but it finds a different band which is from a different internet carrier.

Could anybody help with these problems?

  @TheFinalBoss

hi finalboss, unfortunatelly I dont know the answers to your problems since Iam not from Tplink.

But I wanted to use this opportunity and ask you few questions since you seems to have same equipment and similar available internet frequencies as I have.

Can you please confirm that this archer nx200 can combine 5G and 4G together? and how many channels it can aggregate? I have 5G here (700 +2100) and 4G (800, 1800, 2100) . I wonder if the modem can combine both 5G frequencies and at least 2-3 4G together.

I also have poyintyng 2-5G and I can see people here trying to find out if the modem can support it. Majority of internal modems support only higher frequencies on the antenna slots (like 3000 MHz and more which is useless for most people since most of us have access only to 700 - 2100 MHz internet

many thanks and I hope you will find answers to your questions soon.

  @Jimmydix

Hello! Yes, the router can combine both 4G and 5G connections and supports multiple bands within each technology. However, I’ve noticed that connecting to multiple bands doesn’t always give me the best speeds.

On the bright side, this router works exceptionally well with the Poynting XPOL-2 5G antenna. In 4G-only mode, it tripled my internet speeds compared to my previous Huawei B535, which only provided around 20-30 Mbps and often dropped during rainy weather. With the new TP-Link router, I consistently get about 70 Mbps in 4G-only mode, and when I combine 4G and 5G, my speeds reach 120-140 Mbps! Unfortunately, 5G-only mode and manual band locking for 5G haven’t worked for me, as I mentioned above.

  @TheFinalBoss

thanks for your reply m8, I really appreciate it. It seems that the modem really supports lower frequencies on the external antenna slot which is very good - judging from the info you gave me - that the modem tripled its speed with the antenna. archer combining 5G and 4G together is also great stuff.  I borowed T-Mobile 5G Xiaomi modem for testing and this 2x more expensive modem was not able to combine 5G+4G together.

I have experience only with Zyxel modems , namely with nr7101, nr5101 and 5398-m904.  All of those modems (except 4G+ 5398) are way more expensive than this Tplink modem but all allow all sorts of bandlocking.

So the issue you have might be hopefully adressed in some later FW upgrade coz I see no reason for not being able to band lock certain frequencies. This modem is also relatively new model so Tplink could finetune it in the near future.

  @TheFinalBoss  I have the same problem. When it does the band search on 5g it doesn't come up with the network band I know is there (n28) as it connects to this on auto mode but can't find it on manual mode. It only shows n28 for O2 and n78 for Vodafone. But not the n28 EE it had previously been connected to in auto mode.  I'm not sure I am going to keep this one. It doesn't have a good interface for determining signal strength and quality. Nothing in tether app that I can see for this and the web UI only shows the number rsrq etc and they only refresh really slowly it seems.

  @TheFinalBoss

I have the exactly same issue. Looks like a FW bug. @TPLink please fix ASAP, really annoying.

  @Dim4ik

5G only mode doesn't work for NSA bands.

  @Finnish

Jumping between bands also triggers "Exception:GetMobileStatus fail"  for 5G modes, device goes into network search with 5-15 seconds disconnections,  forcing 4G/3G mode no issue.
