Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hello,

I want to ask if is normal that after upgrade I getting constant red light fod few seconds during boot of Deco X50? If I need to downgrade fw.

I have two packs of X50s. One with FW 1.2.2 and one had 1.3 and accidentally upgraded to 1.5.5.

When I reboot 1.5.5s light sequence on main unit goes yellow-red(2s)-green. Sometimes yellow-blue(0.5s)-red(1.5s)-green. It is normal? Because 1.2.2s main unit boot is just yellow-green.

(I am just worry because I had Deco M5s and they died for constant red light.)

Colors are same for Router and AP modes. For both have Dynamic IP from main routerboard.

So I want to rather know if downgrade to 1.2.2 will vanish that red light. Because I want use deco for my wifi and not worry about dying for red light as happened on Deco M5 what I had. Thank you.

Btw I already returned that 1.5.5s X50s. So I have at home only X50s with 1.2.2 FW and works fine, with yellow-green boot sequence but want to know IF it SAFE to upgrade. Because of red light in boot sequence on 1.5.5 FW. Thank you.

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

Usually, there is not supposed to be red/blue during the firmware upgrade process.

You can update the firmware only through the Deco APP, and if something unusual happens, the device will still be under warranty.

Best regards.

Hi, thank you for answer.

So can you please recomend the safe way to upgrade firmware? Or its supposed to be safe way just click on the upgrade button in Deco APP?

And should I do factory reset after upgrade?

Sorry for weird questions but as I said, my old M5s died for red light and one pack of X50s had red light in boot sequence after upgrade. And I want to be absolutely sure that I can use my actual pack of X50s at least 1 year...

Because I experiencing some ethernet backhaul drops on one unit what is not directly connected to the main unit. And right now I am not sure if it is some fw issue or it is some configuration issue on my Mikrotik RB4011iGS+RM routerboard. I using X50s on AP mode for wifi.

Hi, clicking the upgrade button in the Deco APP is a safe way to update the Deco firmware, which is also the main method to update the firmware.

There is no need to do a factory reset after the upgrade.

There are rare cases in which firmware upgrades bricked the hardware. "Red" light didn't always mean the hardware was broken.  Only when Deco had a solid red LED and didn't change even after a reset, would be considered as one of the hardware issues.-Main Deco turned red light

Thank you very much and best regards.
