Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.5.5 Build 20240718 Rel.44414

I have six Deco units in my mesh system: three X20 units and three P9 units. The main Deco is an X20.

I can manage the network using the app without any issues. However, when I try to access the LAN IP (192.168.68.1), I can't log in. I enter the password from the Deco app, click

"Login," and nothing happens. Strangely, I can log in to each of the other Deco units using their individual IP addresses:

  • 192.168.68.250 – I can log in
  • 192.168.68.249 – I can log in
  • 192.168.68.248 – I can log in
  • 192.168.68.247 – I can log in
  • 192.168.68.246 – I can log in
  • 192.168.68.1 – Not working

I'm trying to set up a Home Assistant integration to track devices based on their state in the mesh network. However, I encounter the same issue—I can configure each individual Deco unit via the web UI, except for the main one. The problem is that I only need to set up the main one.

What can I do to access the web UI of my main Deco?

Thanks

Hi, I've finally managed to log in to the main Deco.

When inspecting the web login page, I found that the error was always due to a timeout in the connection (always exceeding 15 seconds).

So, I turned off all the Deco satellites, leaving only the main Deco on. Finally, I was able to log in. However, when I powered on the Deco satellites, some devices started connecting to the network, and the page went into an eternal loading state before disconnecting.

In my humble opinion, it seems like the Deco cannot handle the network properly. I only have 15–20 devices connected 24/7, and occasionally, I reach 30 devices online. The Deco X20 should handle these with ease. The box states that it can support up to 150 devices.

Of the three Deco units I have, two are V4 models, and one is a V3 model. Should I switch the main unit to the V3 model?

I will probably get a more powerful router and use the Deco devices in AP mode, its a good idea?

Hi, Thanks for the update.

Did it help if you restart the main Deco X20 once?

Please also try to install the beta firmware here for Deco X20_V4 to see whether it helps:

Wait for your reply and best regards.

That's a fair point.

Did it make any difference if we temporarily power off all 5 satellite Deco units?

If possible, please also test with another web browser to see whether it helps.

Best regards.

Hi, Thanks for the update.

It is fine to use Deco X20_V4 as the main Deco. Deco X20_V4_1.5.5 has added WireGuard VPN, fixed WAN port, and Scene Priority under QOS that Deco X20_V3_1.2.4 hasn't supported yet.

Adding a new powerful router as the DHCP router and setting Deco into Access Point mode is also an excellent idea.

By the way, when you can access the main Deco, have you updated the Deco X20_V4 to the beta firmware I mentioned earlier:

Best regards.

Hi, ive tryed to update the firmware of the device but for some reason it did not update. Ive seen the "operation sucefull" massage but after reboot the device stayed with the same firmware...

Im thinking about the TP Link Router Archer AX72 Pro as DHCP router.
