Network card causing ping spikes

Hello,
About 3 weeks ago, I purchased this network card to replace my old one that did not work with windows 7 (I downgraded from windows 8). After installing the card and the drivers, the card worked fine for about an hour or so; I was able to connect to my router and access the internet at the same speeds as I did previously.
However, every so often my connection to, lets say, a certain MMO (online game) drops, causing my ping to skyrocket from 50ish to over 20,000. This happens far more often that I can tolerate, and I can safely put the blame on my new network card, considering my old card always retained a stable connection.
I have updated the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled them, disconnected and reconnnected the router, turned the router off and on again, and unplugged and plugged the card in the motherboard.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
