5Ghz signal not appearing?

Region : Belgium

Model : Archer C7

Hardware Version : Not Clear

Firmware Version :

ISP : Telenet

Hello!

Last week I bought a Archer C7 router and it is working perfectly. I am finally downloading at the download speed I am paying for (25MB/s instead of 2-5MB/s.. - soon 125MB/s with Telenet!) but when I go take a look at the wireless networks on my smartphone, tablet or laptop the 5ghz signal is not appearing, while I should have enabled it. Does anyone know why this is happening? I am also not sure, but I'm thinking the 2.4GhZ signal doesnt reach out far. (upstairs we have a PlayStation, which only receives 200 kbps from it, while the wifi of our Digibox (for HD television) gives a 8MB/s second signal: i'm thinking the router should give better internet than my digibox?

Thanks in advance!

Are you sure those devices support 5GHz as well except 2.4GHz? Have you ever connected to 5GHz Wi-Fi using any of them?

Where is the digibox located? Is it upstairs as the PlayStation? What's your expected coverage of C7? Maybe you need powerline extenders...

BTW, what's the firmware version of your C7?

- The devices we are trying on are an iPhone 5S, iPhone 4S, Microsoft Lumia 640, a Surface 2 tablet and a 5 months old high end Acer laptop. I think they should support 5GhZ?
- The digibox is at the same level of our router, ofcourse. The digibox is just two rooms next to the router. (digibox in living room, router at PC room). PlayStation is upstairs in a corner. (but the digibox reaches 8MB/s there)
- This is the firmware version: 3.13.34 Build 131217 Rel.60903n.

Upgrade latest firmware first.
Reset and reconfigure it.
If the problem continues, try to change channels like 157, 153 etc. for 5GHz Wi-Fi. iPhone 5S should support 5GHz...As to others, you may google it.

Hm apparantly only the iPhone 5S is supporting 5 ghz signal. This "case" is closed then. :P

EDIT: Wait, but the range is VERY short. As a matter of fact, the 5ghz signal is only in the room of the router itself. D:

Yes, 5GHz signal has very short range. Typically it can at most go through a single wall but not much more than that. Also, make sure that the antennas are securely attached and pointed directly upwards. The antenna radiation pattern is perpendicular to where it is pointing, i.e. to the sides. if you point the antenna at the client, you will not get a signal.
