Firmware Version:

I'm new to all this. Have just had 4g broadband installed and was told that it would cover 2 other close by buildings from the main router with no issues. I told the engineer who came to install this and he said no way would that happen and would need to hardwire to extenders. I have the wa850re and am going round in circles trying to pair it with the router as the router does not have the facility to press a button to pair it. I have connected an ethernet cable to a very old laptop as my current one does not have an ethernet port, but get nowhere with it.The web link to configure it does not work and I am ready to throw everything out of the window. Can anyone help with this and explain in simple terms. Here's hoping.

Hi,

If the web link http://tplinkrepeater.net doesn't work, then try http://192.168.0.254 instead.

By the way, here is a direct link to the official user guide for the https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202004/20200422/1910012794_TL-WA850RE_UG_REV7.0.1.pdf .

Re:Extender issues
Wednesday

Hello@Meriel ,

Welcome to our community.

Do you mean that you need to connect the extender to the main router via cable?

To Set Up the Extender as an Access Point:

1. Visit http://tplinkrepeater.net, and log in with the password you set for the extender.

2. Click Change Mode in the top right corner of the page. Select Access Point Mode and click OK. The extender will reboot and switch to Access Point mode.

3. After rebooting, connect the extender to your modem or wired router via an Ethernet cable.

4. Visit http://tplinkrepeater.net, and log in with the password you set for the extender.

5. Go to Quick Setup to configure your extender.

1 ) Configure your wireless settings and click Next.

2 ) Confirm the information and save the picture for sharingthe  network. Then click Finish. Now, you can enjoy Wi-Fi.
