Model: HS100
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.5

I have strange issue. Sometimes when I switch of my HS100, it switch on back almost immediately. Sometimes it takes a few seconds.  I replace this device by another one but HS110 and got the same result.

I was wondering if this good be an issue with WIFI but could not validate this. I put the first hs100 in a location where I know for sure thatthe wifi signal is low and had no issue. Btw it is impossible to check the wifi signal with the new kasa/firmware as I saw on this site.

on top, if wifi is an issue why can I switch it off...

if this is not a wifi issue, what could it be?

Thanks in advance.

So it sounds like if you moved your plug to another outlet it works as designed? Ryan

Hello,

Have you setup any advanced features? Like schedule/away mode?

It is suggested to hard reset the smart plug and reconfigure it to give it a go.

How to reset: With it powered on, hold the settings button for 10s to reset it.

how to set it up:https://www.tp-link.com/en/download/HS100.html#video or https://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-2319.html

For your question, you can go to device settings page to check the wifi signal strength.

Note: https://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-2024.html

Besides, you can check the current firmware, whether it is the latest one.

After that, you can move it back to the original place and test whether it work.

If it still the same, please show us a short video.

Good day.

Since I reset the plug I had the issue only once. Surprisingly when this happens the light goes back to red and after a few times goes back to green.

The plugged device is a simple water fountain for cat but sometimes I wonder if it is not the cause of the issue.

Hello,

So it is working fine for now, right?

For the plugged device, please check the power consumption of it. FYI, for HS100:

Maximum Load 16A
Maximum Power 3.68KW

Good day.

Quite funny...I still experience the same issue. I really start believing it is due to the connected device as it is the only constant through all my tests.

it is just a fontain to give water to a cat ! No high consumption but sometimes when I switch the plug on I can see that it lose the Wifi: led is going back to orange than bliking green than green..It looks like the plug resets due to the switch on/off of the fontain!

Hi,

The led became orange then green means that the connection drops and then reconnect; it seems that the wifi signal strength is weak, app cannot pass the command to the plug itself, that is why it switches itself on once you switched it off.

Please go to device settings page to check the wifi signal strength and show us a picture.

Meanwhile, please provide the Mac address of the HS100.

Good day.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I do believe what you said, while for further troubleshooting, please show us a screenshot of the device settings page where we can see the wifi signal strength.

Meanwhile, what is the mac address of the smart plug? You can find it on the bottom label of it.

Good day.
