Hi folks, bit of an odd one.

 

I've got a very old Canon Pixma MP210 USB printer/scanner, and it's plugged up nicely to the VR2800.

My mum's computer uses the USB Printer Controller to print & scan to it wirelessly without any issues at all.

However, my PC refuses to see the printer at all.

 

I did some digging and I checked the network traffic of the USB Printer Controller.

It's returning this data from an HTTP query:

 

[0,0,0,0,0,0]0
enable=1
serverName=MP210 series
status=9
[error]0

 

So basically, the router is advertising the printer correctly, but for whatever reason, only my PC is refusing to pick it up.

 

Any clues?

Considering your mom's PC works well with it, the print server feature should be working well on the Archer VR2800. 

 

We can do some troubleshooting first and try to fix it. 

 

1. Please verify whether you can print with printer plugged into your PC directly. 

 

2. Ensure that you have installed the driver for the printer on your PC already.

 

3. Ensure that the PC and printer are in the same local network. 

 

4. Can your PC detect the printer? Any error message if you cannot print? 

 

5. What is the operating system of your PC? 

 

Besides, you can give a call to the tech support of the PC/printer to get some help.

Hi Kevin,

 

1) Yes I can

2) Yes, it's installed correctly

3) Yes, they are - the only difference is I have a Powerline Ethernet connection in my office, which I prefer using for speed rather than the 5GHz Wifi

4) My PC can pick the printer up on USB, but the USB utility does not appear to identify either the router, nor the printer.

5) OS is Windows 10 Professional, build 1903 18995.1

@benjaminhowarth Aaaaaand just as I thought about this, I tried unplugging the Ethernet, and using the Wifi instead. Hey presto, it works!

 

Should this be considered feedback for the developers that make the printer utility - that it doesn't work over Ethernet?
