Hello @DCGB
Thank you for providing the case details here and in pm, can I know the power consumption of the Kettle?
HS110 |UK V4.1 1.1.0 firmware has been released long time ago, it does not sound to related to a firmware update.
From current information, it could be a defective unit, it is recommended to contact local retailer to check device warranty, I would also create a support email for you to follow up for RMA, please check your inbox.

@PohGin Hello,
Here are some suggestions you could try if energy monitoring does not work properly:
Your current firmware looks a bit old, please Kasa APP and plug firmware are both up to date first.
1. factory reset plug : with plug powered on, press ' settings' (looks like a gear) for more than 5 secs ( skip this step if you have tried factory reset )
2. try a different wall socket
3. confirm plug's firmware is up to date (kasa app -> settings-> firmware update) and also Kasa app is up to date
If still the same problem, please check my private message and install a debug tool and help collect the log of the smart plug , thank you.
May I also have a photo of the power consumption page, what home appliance has plugged in to this plug?

@PohGin was this resolved, and if so how?
I have the same issue (v4.1 FW 1.1.0) for as long as i can remember.
I troubleshooted exactly as you have to no avail - App still says no zero energy usage.
I decided not to waste any more time but wait for a firmware upgrade in the hope this apparent common problem would get resolved by TP-Link. Seems not :(
Thanks.
