Model: Archer VR300
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.0 0.8.0 v009c.0 Build 210831 Rel.77362n

Dear tp-link-team and forum members,

the system I am using is an Archer VR300 v1 00000000 recently updated to 1.4.0 0.8.0 v009c.0 Build 210831 Rel.77362n via online update.

Since the update I regularly face instabilities in the 2.4 GHz WLAN. Different clients lose connection regularly for short periods that can be experiecned for example as audio hickups in voicechats or the loss of a remote connection in Microsoft Remote Desktop. Other clients as Chromecast or smartphones lose connection for longer periods of time (several minutes) until the devices reconnect. But sometimes the devices then can neither connect to the internet nor connect to local resources. The connection loss occurs several times per hour.

Until now I tried switiching WLAN channels and changing the channel bandwith as well as several reboots without any noticable effect.

In the 5 GHZ WLAN I did not notice any problems at all.

I can not tell if the issues are directly connected to the update, but as far as I reconcider, the router worked flawlessly before. The router was not moved or touched in months, so positioning should not be the issue.

I hoped that downgrading the firmware and then flashing the new firmware again would help, but I can not find my current firmware build online.

Please let me know if you have any ideas of what I could try.

Thank you in advance!

@CustomerXYZ

Hi, thank you very much for your time and patience.

May I know how many devices are connected to the 2.4ghz? and what are they?

And May I know how long have you had Archer VR300?

If we limit the devices to 2-3, will the same issue continue?

@TP-Link Thank you for answering!

The router was purchased in 2021/08 in Germany.

Connected are beteween 10 to 12 devices, about 9 to 10 are connected to the 2.4 GHz WLAN (most of the time not all devices).

2.4 GHz: 3x Sonos speakers, 2x smartphone, 1x tablet, 1x notebook, 1x Chromecast, 1x Nintendo Switch, sometimes 1x digital camera.

5 GHz: 1 Notebook

LAN: 1 Hue-Bridge

If I reduce the number of connected devices, the stability gets better up to no issues at all.

I really hope that the number of clients is not the issue, since most of the devices are hardly using any bandwith but are only in standby.
