Low video quality /bitrate C320WS
Hi.
I have 2 cameras (C320WS) and both have the same issue. Even if i choose 4mp video the quality is bad, zoomning in makes it imposseble to see anything.
The bitrate fluctioate between 20kb/s to 299kb/s witch sounds extreamly low for 4mp video.
The wifi signal is good (2 bars -56rssi) and if i place my phone next to the camera i get about 80mbps both directions.
Both app and firmware up to date.

I just purchased the C320WS camera (hardware version 2.0) and it still does not have a bitrate adjuster so I'll need to return it. I consider this to be a flaw of the camera which should be updated in firmware by now. It had been over 4 months since the official software request was created:
Tapo C320WS - Option for Video quality /compression - Smart Home Community (tp-link.com)
If anyone has not yet voted, please vote today. Also, please provide a 1 or 2 star review of the camera on Amazon. Currently this camera has too high of a rating for a camera that is missing a basic bitrate adjuster.

I'm pretty sure Tapo doesn't want to make it possible to get higher bitrate since they don't want the cameras to use more bandwidth/storage on the cloud. If they could set a higher bitrate for the local recordings and live only, it would be great, but probably the HW doesn't support this.

This needs an official response from Tapo...

Same here.
Thinking about adding several new cameras both inside and outside but it will NOT be tapo.
Total lack of custumer care, low bitrate and not a sound from dev team.
They sell it as hd camera but compression makes it look worse than VGA..
Nerver ever tapo again, even if they would release a super camera my trust is lost until this issue is fixed or atleast adressed.

I got a firmware update 1.0.10 on my C320WS V2.0 EU. When I download a recording I will get an average bitrate >1500kb/s. The camera does also a prerecording before a movement was recognized of about 4 seconds. Life view has still low bitrate and quality.

@Todo yes but its still way to low. Any type of zoomning and you cant see anything.
A videorecording from my 4 year old phone has over 14mbit/s and thats at 1920x1080.
So that tapo thinks 1/10 of that its enough for 2560x1440 is just weird.. You cant compress it down that much and still call it 2K HD..

Pardon me for 'hijacking' an old thread. My issue relates to a C310. The bandwidth is terrible and I can only assume as an earlier poster mentioned that it has everything to do with conserving cloud storage as that's where the subscription $$$'s are . I use a TP Link EAP225 - excellent results from the 2.4 band - download 24.3Mbps and 18.6Mbps upload at the camera location. I have no use for cloud storage and prefer to use Synology NAS. The Bit Rate hovers between 700Kbps and 1300Kbps at 15FPS so not exactly overloading the system!!. The suggestion made to myself was to use an antenna gain aerial but if the camera software/hardware is deliberately crippled then this would make no difference. I'll keep the C310 as a spare but will definitely be looking for something to replace it with.
