Model: Tapo C320WS
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Hi all

I have just bought the Tapo 320WS, and set it up, and it's working.

During Setup (in the Tapo app for Android), I was asked If I want to connect the camera with Ethernet or Wi-Fi,

and in the same screen there was a note that "this decision is only for Setup".

I chose Ethernet, and configured the camera.

Now when it's added and fully configured,

how can I change the connectivity from Ethernet to Wi-Fi?

I went over all settings for this camera, in the app (for Android),

and unfortunately couldn't find any mentioning of Ethernet/Wi-Fi.

Is this feature missing?

Or is it just me not finding it?

Hopefully it's not missing,

or else, users who wish to switch from 1 to the other, will need to Reset the camera completely,

in order to re-add it again, and re-choose again the connectivity.

Please help if there's a way to change it..

Thank you

Hi  @spaceman5

Thank you for the feedback. If you skip the wireless connection setup after the Ethernet connection setup is completed, and you want to use wireless connection afterward, the camera requires a re-configuration (reset& setup).

If the setup is done wirelessly and you want to use ethernet connection afterward, all you have to do is to connect the ethernet cable to the router.

Hi Wayne-TP

Thank you very much for your answer.

So when the setup said that I can change it to Wireless in the future,

what it means is that this future is the end of the setup process,

and not further than that..

I see :)

May I suggest a feature for the Tapo app?

If yes:

Please add in the Camera Settings an option to Choose Ethernet vs Wi-Fi,

and under it, there will be 2 fields for setting the WLAN SSID and Password..

That will spare users from the need to Reset the camera for changing Ethernet -> Wi-Fi connectivity..

It's a simple addition, yet a useful one that will save hassle to the camera users..

Thank you very much

  @spaceman5

Thank you for the reply and the suggestion. It is definitely great if Tapo camera supports changing network information in the APP.

Can you post a new thread under "Feature Request" block? Other users who also want this feature can vote for it. It will be very helpful when the team evaluate the product feature feedback.

Request for Camera Settings feature:

  1. Include an option to choose Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection.
  2. Have two fields for WLAN SSID and password.
  3. This will eliminate the need to reset the camera when switching between Ethernet and Wi-Fi.
  4. The addition of this feature will make it more convenient for camera users.
