P110 no longer switching power on/off
The plug worked perfectly for the first 4 months, but I have now experienced this issue several times.
I can control the plug via both Google Assistant and Tapo app. i.e. the LED on the plug switches on & off and there is an audible click when it does so. However, the plug does not switch power on or off.
Until today, removing the plug for m the app, performing a factory reset on the plug and adding it again to the app fixed the issue. This was inconvenient but fixed the issue. This action no longer fixes the issue however and the plug seems to be no longer capable of switching the power output.
Is there a different fix? Or do I need to replace the plug?
Thanks

I had a P110 fail recently... I hope the others I own don't fail as well. It's rather important that a plug is safe and reliable. A P110 fail could lead to losing a fridge load of food (due to power off) or a fire or (due to non stop clicking/ switching) cause a TV to fuse.

@DeltaCharlie Same issue on 2 of my p110. Are there any official announcements about it? Having an unreliable plug is not ok. Will have to look for differnet vendors.

I have four P110, 2 has failed after using it for a few months, will not turn off no matter how I reset it.
Took the last NEW plug out, installed it, works perfectly without issue. I will count how long it last. I bought a new double pack in August 2023, and one has failed. I only use it to control a small audio interface that doesn't draw much power, but I do turn it on/off regularly - so it seems the on/off mechanism is not durable (using it regularly will only last 4-5 months)
The other one that last the longest - I do not use the on/off function that often.
This has quality issue, I will not buy this anymore, I am trying other brand.

@DeltaCharlie After some looking around on reddit I found out that if you give some taps to the plug where the on/off switch is, it starts working again.

@SCN1 I don't remember how long I waited, possibly around a week as I was all set to send it back, but thought I would give it a last try, which is when it started working again.

@nikospamp thanks this worked, I tapped on the plug repeatedly whilst turning the device on and off via the app. You can tell when it's fixed because the click is louder.

Hi all.
I had this issue today and customer services said shake the plug and give it, basically, a good slap.
I slapped it on each side quite hard and on one slap I heard an audible click / ping. Have plugged it back in and it's working again. Must be a moving part which gets stuck and the force or a strike sorts it out.
Hope this helps

@DeltaCharlie I was all set to return one of my failed plugs to tp-link and it had been sitting on my desk, unused, but more importantly, not plugged in. I thought I would give it one last try and to my surprise it worked. This is despite trying everything to get it to work a few days earlier and being unsuccesful.
All I can think is that being unplugged for a few days caused it to "reset". It has actually worked okay since!
6 months on and the same smart plug has failed again. Usual symptoms - switches on and off but doesn't turn the power on or off, power is constantly on. Tried leaving it for a week, but still not working so its time for the bin for this plug, which is likely where they will all end up given their general poor quality!
