Cameras - google home / assistant integration not working - FIX BEING ROLLED OUT, SEE UPDATE.
Hi - New Tapo customer here. I just bought a few Tapo outdoor cameras. Specifically the C520WS. Great product, but it does not have proper live feed integration in google home app. Nor can you use Google home to setup automations. This integration exists for other tplink (kasa) product lines.
I'm already using google home app to preview my doorbell (nest) and other cameras (wyze and ring), and I would like my tapo ones in there too. In the Google home app it says "live view stream can't be viewed here".
I purchased these because it was advertised as google assistant integrated. It isn't. The only integration that Tapo has is by saying "okay google show camera on Chromecast". This is not a full integration. We need to be able to view stream and set automations through google home.
Does anyone know if this feature is being developed? Its pretty critical to my smart home setup.
Thank you.

@Solla-topee is this Google-home enabled rollout also part of the 1.09 firmware for the C225?

@Solla-topee and when you say this feature will require the relevant cloud services, do you mean a Tapo cloud account? Because if that's so I really will stop using them. It makes no sense that I need a cloud account to view a camera on my home network through a another device on my home network, and so would just be more money-grabbing - the same as not being able to delete individual files from an SD card unless you have an account.

Hi,
For the Tapo C225, the firmware v1.0.9 does not support to be viewed via the Google Home app. This feature may be supported in later firmware releases, but we do not have specific information on which firmware version will add this feature.
As you can see in the below instructions, it's required to sign in TP-Link cloud account when connecting the Tapo device to Google Home. However, please distinguish from the Tapo Care subscription service, working with Google Home is for free.
How to connect my Tapo smart device to Google Home

@Solla-topee just to be clear;
The current version of "works with Google" does NOT require a Tapo-Care subscription; but can you confirm that future versions supporting display of the camera's feed via the Google Home app will also be free?
Thank you.

@Solla-topee Thanks for replying to this thread with updates. It's awesome to see that TP-link is listening and working towards the needs of the users. Can you let me know when C520WS firmware will be due to be released?

I just installed the tapo 410, and was surprised to not be able to see the feed in the google home app. When you say relevant cloud services, are you saying that I need to subscibe to the tplunk service in order to see video in my google home app? Please let me know so ai can send this back if that is the case, since I might as well stick with Nest cams at that point.

Hi,
There is no need to subscribe to the Tapo Care service to watch videos in the Google Home app, and our relevant team will update the relevant cloud services for your device in the future.

Just got the TP70 as it seemed the cheapest option to test if "works with Google Home" really works... maybe I should have made this search before as it's pretty obvious they don't! Not happy, pointless as can't see it through my Nest app or the Google Home app. If I have to watch it on a Google screen of some sort I might as well just use my eyes and look out the window FFS
