Completely agree -- would like my plug to send me an alert if the device connected to it is running continuously (like my sump pump) -- seems like a basic use case for a smart plug

  @Wayne-TP why do you argue with the user who has a legitimate use case for the trigger? Why do you care if his water pump malfunctions and sends his phone a push notification. It's completely stupid that it's taken over 4 years and there is still no power draw trigger. I will be buying no more Tp Link products from now on

Why isn't a energy usage a trigger yet? It's such a basic thing other companies and smart plugs can do. When my sump pump turns on, send me a notification, when the washing machine is finished, send me a notification, when the computer in my son's room gets turned on. There's infinite possibilities, and the only reason it hasn't been implemented is laziness. I will not buy another tapo smart device until the software doesn't seem abandoned. This is a feature that has been requested by many, and it's just ignored

  @RaulLeal

I thought I was the only one facing this issue with the water pump. I’ve been manually monitoring energy consumption to detect leaks with p115, but I really need real-time notifications to catch problems early. For example, my toddler sometimes forgets to close the faucet — and that once cost me 10 times my usual water bill 🥲. That’s why I started using the P115 to periodically monitor energy usage. But again, I need real-time alerts if the hourly consumption exceeds a certain threshold.

So I googled around and found that a Python script can send triggers to Telegram or other platforms like email. I managed to set it up — but it still requires a PC running 24/7.

Let me know if you find a better way to get notifications!
