Need to disable IR manually.

Two cameras face each other, one blinds the other.

In daymode the spotlight is active automatically, which is even more unwanted.

Hi,
Have you placed two cameras very close to each other, facing one another? Could you please describe your specific usage scenario in detail for evaluation?

Generally, when the camera is in day mode, the spotlight only turns on when someone manually activates it in the Tapo app. If you don't turn on the spotlight manually, but it's on, we recommend changing the password for your TP-Link account, ensuring no one else is logged in to the Tapo app with your account, and then checking whether the spotlight turns on automatically.
What if I forget my TP-Link ID password for TP-Link Tapo/Kasa device

Best Regards

I have a Tapo 310c pointing over a fishpond with movement detection set to trigger a powerful strobe light. This is to frighten cats away from the pond, and works, but the camera is plagued by insects so I get false detections all night and the fish are stressed by an all night disco! I need to be able to switch off the camera infrared lights so as to not attract the insects and use an independent IR light placed away from the camera.

Hello,
Thank you for explaining your setup and use case.
At the moment, the camera does not support turning off the infrared (IR) lights while remaining in Night Mode. This means the IR LEDs cannot be disabled independently when the camera switches to night vision.

If you have this requirement, you may try setting the camera to Day Mode instead. In Day Mode, the camera will not activate the infrared lights, even at night. However, please note that this approach requires sufficient ambient lighting in the environment to ensure usable image quality.

If the night scene is too dark and relies on IR illumination, unfortunately there is currently no supported way to disable the built‑in IR LEDs only while keeping night recording active.

Best Regards,
