Massive energy consumption spikes in energy monitoring not matching power graph
Massive energy consumption spikes in energy monitoring not matching power graph
Hi TP-Link Support,
I'm using a P304M to monitor the power of a few desktop PCs. Most of the time the data looks reasonably correct, but every week or so I get a massive spike of energy consumption that is clearly incorrect (over 100 kWH power consumption in an hour on a single socket used by a single desktop tower that does not draw more than 500W) that does not match what is shown in the 24 hour/7 day power graph.
For example, just today on 4th October I see a 132.5 kWh spike that is way beyond the norm.
Daily Energy Graph for 4th/3rd October as comparison: It is showing a single 132 kWH consumption within a single hour between 2-3AM.
Power Graph (24 hour / 7 days). It is clear within 2-3AM of 4th Oct, power draw did not exceed 500W.
This affects all the sockets that have other lower power components connected such as monitors/speakers and each of them occasionally spikes way beyond the expected use. Is there any way to correct this error as it makes the data a lot harder to interpret when I have to manually cull some values every few days, and the accurate power graph is not saved after 7 days.

It looks like therer is a new problem with 1.0.4 Build 240925 Rel.112242
I can't say for certain when my device upgraded to 1.0.4, but since 1st Jan, the P304M I had issues with before is now resetting the Daily and Monthly consumption figures multiple times a day
Graphs from home-assistant:
Working P304M 'This month' energy slowly increasing (also running 1.0.4 Build 240925 Rel.112242):
Broken P304M resetting the usage multiple times a day also 1.0.4 Build 240925 Rel.112242
This faulty graph should be increaseing by 0.1kWh per day, so by 3rd Jan as I write this messaue the total should be around 0.231kWh, however the utilisation is reporting much higher than this and displayign this strage behaviour. I cant show this bahviour in the Tapo app, but I can show the current usage reporting for this month is not what it should be and is only showing 0.092kWh
I include December graphs to compare to January so far as below, notice how 2nd Jan shows no utilisation and 3rd Jan should be shoing 0.045kWh by this time of day but is not?
Happy to provide the MAC addresses again if that helps you correlate when the upgrades took place. There have been no other changes I am aware of this side since the new year.
