Hi

 

I followed this link to activate coming/leaving home with geofencing

but this does not work constantly. radius is set to 100m.

yesterday it worked when coming home, privacy mode was set to on, this morning when leaving I checked at the office which is 20km distance it did not work.

Seems to be random.

C320ws is connected via ethernet cable.

 

are there any recomendations?

yes when opening the app it takes some time to sync/load that actual status.

 

I now changed radius to 200m, that helped

Was this automation created on another mobile phone? To trigger the geofencing automation with different phones, you will need to edit this automation on each phone and enable "This Phone/Tablet" in the trigger list. 

 

Check if there are any errors reported in automation history? (Tapo app > Smart tab > Upper right corner, History.)

 

Are you able to check camera live stream at the office?

I only use one phone. Camera live stream always works fine.

The automation history is empty.

 

Noticed the following:

If I leave/come home the automation is not triggered, but if I open the Tapo app manually and go to the start screen, then after about 3sec the automation is triggered and cam switches to privacy/or away mode. 

 

 

For me this looks like the Tapo app does not work in the background correctly, eventough I gave all the permissions.

 

Does Geofencing really work at the moment, because it says "BETA" ?

What's the model and system version of your phone? And what's the tapo app version?

Please check if there are any battery optimization settings or battery saver mode on your phone. Make sure there are no such restrictions for Tapo app. 

 

Is location permission for Tapo app set to always?

Energy saving is disabled

for the TAPO app all permissions are given

location permission is set to always

 

In the TAPO app Geofencing is on including enhanced location with accuracy set to high and frequency set to 60s

 

For example yesterday when going to the office, it was triggered correctly, when coming home in the evening it was also triggered but only when I was already inside my home, so the alarm went off

 

How can I improve this?

I found out something new.

 

This morning when I arrived at my office which is about 20km from home I checked the TAPO app.

 

On the start screen of the app the camera symbol of the C320WS was greyed out, which means the camera had not switched on, so automatisation with geofencing has not worked. Then I checked the app under history - automatisation, there was no entry for today. 

When I checked this, it was 7:57. About one minute later at 7:58 I checked the TAPO app again, and to my surprise now the cam was switched on, I checked again under history - automatisation and there is an entry now for today with the time 7:38, please see picture attached.

 

This is very strange. It seems the app is not working correctly in the background.

Can you do some check if every thing is fine with my cam?

I gave my MAC adress.

I think there are two problems.

- 1: When I enter the camera device page, sometimes it shows the cam in privacy mode(greyed out), even though under automation is says "success leaving home".

 --> TAPO app seems no to update itself correctly

 

- 2: I set the geofencing checking frequency to 30sec, this seems to help the autmatication. Still sometimes when I come home the cam is still in recording mode, rather than privacy mode.
