Configurable Time for Recording length following Detection of Movement or Person (C510W)
Configurable Time for Recording length following Detection of Movement or Person (C510W)
It would be useful to have the length of time the camera records after a detection configurable.
At the moment if a car drives into my driveway the camera will record the event and follow the car away from the camera's "home" position.
If the car sits in another part of my property for several minutes the camera will no longer detect movement and return to its home position.
At this point the car and person in it are outside the field of view because the camera has already stopped recording and returned to its home position.
So that I can see if said person exits the car and then smashes in my front door, I would like to be able to capture such an event. This could be achieved by allowing me to configure the length of time the camera records after the initial detection without the camera returning to the home position.
So, to achieve this two things are required:-
1. The time for continued recording after a movement detection should be able to be configured.
2. If the time above is configured then the camera should stay in the same position (unless it's tracking movement away from the current field of view) for this length of time without returning to the home positon.

Tapo appear reluctant to implement this to circumvent the latest issue brought in by firmware 1.3 which has shortened the recording time following the ending of movement detected by the camera. Currently in my cited, example a car can drive onto my property (camera records) and comes to a stop (camera stops recording after a few seconds). Then someone can exit the vehicle undetected!
It would be an obvious and welcome enhancement to have the tine configurable by the user. Those who wish to save SD space can shorten the time, those who wish to capture events missed after the camera stops recording can lengthen it. What's not to like about that?

@AABBCC_CCBBAA Both my cameras' sensitivity settings are at full pelt and do indeed pick up rain. It has always done so.
I found out that the new firmware, apart from annoyingly only snapping 20 second clips of what is the same lengthy incident, doesn't pick up the distance range as it did before the firmware update and will cut off the recording before the person leaves the shot. I believe Tapo prided itself in the camera picking up even movement in the distance and is why I purchased the camera. That promise isn't reliable anymore and it isn't the camera I bought.

@AABBCC_CCBBAA I hope they rectify the issue as it spoils what is an excellent product.

Thank you.
Any idea of timescale for this?
Can you post the link to the "official website" so that we can save the link to check future firmware release notes?
Regards,
AJ
