  @Alf-63

Tapo appear reluctant to implement this to circumvent the latest issue brought in by firmware 1.3 which has shortened the recording time following the ending of movement detected by the camera. Currently in my cited, example a car can drive onto my property (camera records) and comes to a stop (camera stops recording after a few seconds). Then someone can exit the vehicle undetected!

It would be an obvious and welcome enhancement to have the tine configurable by the user. Those who wish to save SD space can shorten the time, those who wish to capture events missed after the camera stops recording can lengthen it. What's not to like about that?

  @AABBCC_CCBBAA Both my cameras' sensitivity settings are at full pelt and do indeed pick up rain. It has always done so.

I found out that the new firmware, apart from annoyingly only snapping 20 second clips of what is the same lengthy incident, doesn't pick up the distance range as it did before the firmware update and will cut off the recording before the person leaves the shot. I believe Tapo prided itself in the camera picking up even movement in the distance and is why I purchased the camera. That promise isn't reliable anymore and it isn't the camera I bought.

I have asked if there is a way to downgrade to 1.2.3 but not possible apparently. I hope they release a firmware fix to sort this issue which seems to be affecting so many users. AJ

  @AABBCC_CCBBAA I hope they rectify the issue as it spoils what is an excellent product.

Adding upvotes to this thread may add weight to getting the change implemented.

Thank you very much for your feedback here. I have forwarded the feature request to the relevant team to evaluate and improve the camera. It's suggested to pay attention to the new firmware and firmware release notes on our official website, we will update the information on the official website if there are any updates.

  @Solla-topee

Thank you.

Any idea of timescale for this?

Can you post the link to the "official website" so that we can save the link to check future firmware release notes?

Regards,

AJ

  @Solla-topee

Thank you for the link.

The firmware notes read as follows.:-

Tapo C510W(EU)_V1_1.3.1 Build 241111

Published Date: 2024-12-09

Modifications and Bug Fixes:

1. Added support to store Playback videos to a Tapo Hub with storage expansion to improve storage security.

2. Fixed the bug that the camera could not play Liveview under certain conditions.

3. Optimized the Motion Detection feature to reduce false alarms caused by rain and snow.

4. Optimized the Motion Tracking function.

5. Optimized the cloud recordings performance.

6. Optimized the image performance.

7. Optimized the SD card playback function.

8. Improved Onvif compatibility and security.

9. Enhanced device stability.

10. Fixed some minor bugs.

I think even if I read this proor to updating the firmware from 1.2.3 I would have continued with the upgrade as it doesn't actually say anywhere anout shortening the recording time after movement detection has ceased.

Is this issue going to be addressed soon or is there going to be a feature enhancement to allow this time to be customisable by the user?

Regards,

AJ.
