Geofencing stops working after iOS app login session ends.
Geofencing stops working after iOS app login session ends.
I assume, it is due to the Apple app update requirement of removing sessions when upgrading to a new version.
Unfortunately, this is happening without any notification, and I only realize that the camera had not been activated for weeks by geofencing when opening the app occasionally.
Is there a way to prevent this?
There should be a notification at least, so I would re-login to ensure the home security is on always.

What kind of notification are you referring to? Remind the user to log in? I have never seen any apps that send such notifications. If a user is not logged in, no user information or related configuration settings will be read, which means no notifications will be generated.

Hi @Wayne-TP ,
Thank you for checking on my issue.
What I meant was that, when the app logs me out in the background (usually due to software upgrade), it fails to trigger the geofencing and turn on/off the camera.
What I suggested by a notification was that your system (the server) should send a notification via email that the iOS app is not logged in and any trigger related to that is not functioning at the moment.
Without this, I can be in the false belief that my home is secure and the camera always turns on when leaving home, until, for some random occasion weeks later, I open the app and realise, I'm not logged in for a while and thus the camera have been off (privace mode ON) for weeks.
Normally, I have no reason to open up this application, unless I got an alert the camera got triggered by some movement. However, it is not happening after a while when the app is logged out secretly in the background.
Or is there any way, to keep it logged in or have the Geofencing be triggered even if I'm logged out of the app?
Thanks and regards!

There is no feature or design specifically tailored for this scenario, and the only notification type available is app push notifications so far.
The activation of the geofencing automation requires the Tapo app to always run in the background and have access to the phone's GPS info, and most importantly, a TP-Link ID should be logged in.
In my opinion, this seems more like an active behavior on the user or mobile device level rather than something the app can control. It's similar to shopping: we choose what to buy, rather than products asking us if we need them. If the phone's system shuts down the app, it will remain closed until you reopen it.
