Model: Tapo P100
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.5 Build 240411 Rel.143808

I have 2 Tapo P100 plugs but 1 plug suddenly stopped working. Even though I switch it on or off.. the device connected to it is always turned on. I tried resetting the plug and configuring again, but same problem.

I even tried changing the socket, but no luck. Can someone help?

  @AJ_

Double-check whether the connected appliance is a supported load type for the smart plug. The smart plug may get damaged gradually if it is controlling an unsupported device. What types of loads can the Tapo plug support?

If the problem occurs when the smart plug is properly used, please proceed with device warranty by contacting the retailer or local TP-Link support.

  @Wayne-TP the smart plug is comnected to home office setup so I think load is not the issue here. Will try contacting the local support.

Thanks!

I have the same problem and mine was used to control a 45W phone charger - the support document says anything over 75W.  Has the P100 degraded even at that wattage?

  @AJ_ this is a very common problem. Many many p100 units are failing because the contacts are sticking. You can temporarily fix it by tapping the plug unit, whilst it's unplugged, to dislodge the contacts. But my solution has been to throw the unit out because it is unreliable and you shouldn't be tapping electrical contacts to free them up. Check the warranty and get it replaced if you can, or just bin it.

  @Blert I have had this a number of times, what solution I have found that has worked is to delete it from the app, then add it again.  Done this a dozen of times, and it worked every time.  The problem only happen to the one in the same as the router, all the others work OK, even if I fit a new one in it's place, it happens.  Only think it is due to been so close to the router and it throws a wobbly every to often.  It happened again today, so done as I said above and it's back working. Good luck.
