I've been using a P110 to schedule my dishwasher to run overnight via Alexa. This works by starting the dishwasher manually by pressing the button on the device, asking Alexa to turn off the plug and then turn it on at the desired time. Using the last "on" state, this has been working successfully for several weeks until a couple of days ago when it has suddenly stopped working.

 

Now the plug is turning on at the requested time but the dishwasher is in an off state requiring me to manually turn it on. Almost like it's ignoring the desired power state.


Does anyone have any ideas or know of any updates which could have had any impact?

Tapo smart plug only controls the power supply of its load device, it is not suitable for controlling appliances with an extra power button—those that need to be manually turned on and configured after power is restored, like air conditioners.

 

For your case, we suggest testing the dishwasher by connecting it to a different outlet to check if it stays on after a power outage.

I can test this but it has been working fine like this every day for almost 2 months. The reason for using the Tapo initially was the need to initiate the dishwasher by physically pressing the start button to initiate the program, I can then power off and on via Tapo and Alexa and it's been working great up until this week when now rather the continuing the program the dishwasher is in an off state - I don't understand why this has changed :(

As explained above, the smart plug only controls the power supply of the connected device, I do find it strange that you said this worked before... The smart plug has no access to appliance's power or control button.
