Doorbell chime pairing to hub error

Trying to pair the chime of my D230 doorbell with my H200 hub
get to the chime pairing screen and volume is zero.
try to turn the volume up and get the message "Network is unstable. Please try again later"
volume slider goes back to zero.
thought it might be the wifi. Still getting the same message with a much better router. No issues with any other devices.
Rebooted,unplugged, reset... nothing.
any suggestions?
