Model: Tapo D235
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.19

I just installed a D235 doorbell, and was surprised to discover it only records on the SD card the unanswered doorbell calls
When a motion is detected, it triggers a notification on my phone, but nothing is recorded on the SD card making the notification useless if not seen immediately

Having a option to record a clip when a motion is detected would be great

@Wayne-TP Your message made me think that something was wrong with my doorbell as it should normally record motion detections.
Since all the settings seemed correct, I decided to change the SD card and replaced the 32GB one with an 8GB card I had lying around.
And now it works!
I don’t understand why it wasn’t working before, especially since missed ring recordings were being saved to the card, but motion detections weren’t.
Also, the doorbell didn’t show any warnings about the memory card.

Double-check the recording settings on your doorbell. Which type of events are selected for recording? How are they set in the recordings schedule? You may share some screenshots of your settings here.

Well this is quite strange. When you were using the old sd card, did you try to reset, reconfigure the doorbell, and re-format the sd card?

As the problem is solved now, if you don't want to make any changes, you can just keep the current setup.
