I’m not able to see whether the plug has power or not. I’m currently outside and want to know if there’s electricity at my home. How can I check this using the Tapo app?

Are you positive that your home is still in blackout? Is it possible that the power has been restored?

 

If the outage persists, this seems like a situation where App info didn't get updated promptly. In this case, make sure your Tapo app is up to date. You can try to delete and reinstall the app. Make sure your phone's network connection is stable, and do NOT enable VPN (if any) on your phone while using the Tapo app.

 Hi @Sonu_P,

 

The plug will show as "Offline" in the tapo app if it has no power running to it. However, if there is no power then I expect you also have no wifi/internet either at home so not sure what occurs if this is the case, but I expect it would be the same.

The smart plug cannot be viewed or controlled when there is no power and internet access, even if you're at home, let alone when you're not. The power and the internet access are the basic requirements for smart device's remote control capability.
