soft reboot through app caused my HDD not to initialize.

This was a 2TB Toshiba Hard drive.

Unplugging and plugging back in the H500 brings it back to life. Seems to be a fw bug at this point. I was worried the drive bit the bullet at first.

Are you able to replicate this problem? Or is it a one-time thing?

@Wayne-TP for the H500, can we use 3.5 HDD enclosure which has its own dedicated power supply and then connect it via SATA to the hub? Will it work?

for anyone with the same problem

i have the h500 ( 1.1.2 ) - it stopped recording , storage was greyed out, and deleted all AI facial.

they then sent me a beta firmware, which bricked the device , so had to get a new one sent out.

theres a thread sepecfically for problems with the h500.

Upon checking, such unconventional hard drive connection methods are not mentioned in any resources of the Tapo H500 hub. Therefore, we cannot confirm whether this would be feasible, and we advise against trying it to prevent any potential issues in the future.

I see. This is because i was looking at HDD surveillance, but found it only available for 3.5" only. And I read a lot users complaining the drive 2.5" is very hot. So, thinking of using 3.5" instead of 2.5". Is it possible to get the technical team to try on this approach? if can, then it really help most of the users, especially, want to switch from Vigi NVR back to Tapo H500 hub.

Hi Wayne

I think I have just struck the same issue as others toniight after adding a Tapo D235 to my setup this afternoon

i have a 2Tb Silicon Power A55 SSD which has been running fine since 22 August. Aside from the D235, I have 5 C120's and 3 C325WB's connected. The C325's were constantly recording and all the rest were on motion detection. All have local SD cards but storage location is set to H500

As of tonight I can no longer see the SSD at all and the disk light does not come on.

Nothing I have done has brought it back to life. Taking the drive out and attaching to a sata adapter I can see the device in the device manager but not in Windows Explorer (don't know if this is expected though)

Please advise

Thanks

Darryl

Seem like H500 is very unstable for now (especially for 24/7 recording). Guess i just stick to use Vigi NVR.

hi, I have similar issue with many users here. It seems the H500 not so stable.

I'm using the H500 with HDD TOSHIBA L200 1TB.

Already happened 3 times the Homebase just gone offline but on the device all the led are in green light working perfectly.
Camera unable to connect to the Homebase and unable to save the recording after this happened.

i restarted the Homebase then it says the Harddisk not initialised, need to format it. Did it 3 times already and it's happening again. It's very unstable it seems.

all my earlier recording will be gone, and I only record when there's motion detection, not always on.

I think TP LINK need to look into this matter on the Homebase. My Homebase is connected to my Tapo deco router via Ethernet, not WiFi. So it should be as stable as it is.
