Model: Tapo H200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.5.1

Around 5 days ago  I was away from home for a few days and I went to checked my Cameras only to find all my tapo devices unreachable.

In the morning the network was back up and all fine again.

Once I returned home, whilst in the front room in the evening (where my hubs are) I noticed that my 2 hubs LED had turned amber and my App said there was a problem and devices available on local network and so alexa would not work etc.  I rebooted both devices and occasionally lights would go green and it all was ok until a few mins later, it failed again with a solid Amber light. In the morning all is fine again!

Once hub is connected by wifi and the other via ethernet cable - both experience the same issue

The next night around the same time (but not exact same time) the same thing happened. All other devices connected to the same router are working fine.

I am connected to Mesh Deco X20 and I have trouble shooted the following - keeping in mind I have has this set up for over 8 months and never had an issue and nothing has recently changed either:

  • Ensure all firmware up to date (do you need to push a live update to me manually?)
  • Ensured Deco X20 firmware up to date
  • Ensured All devices connected to the same router are working
  • Changed the X20 to the main Deco router - problem persisted
  • Ensured no rules in place for time of day actions on both tapo devices and on the deco router
  • Gone through the settings over an over to make sure I had not changed anything.

Please help as all was working so well and I'm 100% nothing has changed on my side and hoping that you can spot the issue if the Tapo need to check Diagnostic logs so I can get this resolved.

  @Wayne-TP Hi Wayne, just an update after monitering for a week or so.

All is working fine now, I did have to several reboots of my Deco X20 - the first hard reset did nothing but it seems like a second or third reset may have resolved the issue as it has now stopped happening. Thanks for your help

  @DonnieDarko3000

Besides the Tapo H200 hub and its sub-devices, do you have other Tapo devices, the ones that don't require a hub? What's the status of those devices?

Try to change router's DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Restart the main deco, see if it helps.

  @Wayne-TP Thanks for the reply Wayne and sorry for my delay.

So I changed DNS and rebooted as you suggested but the issue remains.

Other Tapo devices not connected to the hub also seem to revert to local only mode - not just hub connected items.

I test Alexa commands and with (and without) non tapo devices like shelly switches and they all seem fine.

Please please advise what I can do next - its driving me nuts every night this happens and morning its fine!

My x20 Deco is V3 (US) and I am running 1.2.4 - is there an update for this Deco perhaps as seems like maybe a bug with the deco?

so testing just now - local only for all Tapo devices, not just the hub. Everything functions fine using the app on each device but not outside of local network (no alexa, or viewing my camera when away from home!) I really don't want to have to hard reset the x20 if it can be avoided

  @DonnieDarko3000

Do you have a reboot schedule enabled on the Deco, like every morning? Try to reboot the deco (main deco) manually when the problem reoccurs, see if that helps.

To clarify, is the internet connection for all other devices in your network functioning normally, except for the Tapo devices?
