Solution Tapo H500 Performance Optimizations: Cannot Access Storage, Facial Recognition Error
This Article Applies To
Tapo H500(EU/US) V1.0 - Firmware 1.1.1 Build 20250324 rel.64977 or 1.1.2 Build 20250409 rel.57629
Description
In response to the following situations regarding the Tapo H500, our R&D team has implemented relevant optimizations. Before the official release, a beta version is available for community users to try out.
1. The hub stops reading the capacity of BOTH the inserted hard disk and internal storage. The Storage option cannot be accessed in the app, showing no response. The internal storage remains unreachable even after removing the hard disk.
2. Relevant issues of facial recognition.
Solution
Relevant modifications are included in the latest firmware 1.3.1 Build 20250822 rel.65691, which has started to be released now.
The new firmware will be released in stages. Before the full release, it is normal that some devices cannot receive the latest version while other does. If your device hasn't received the new version, please wait patiently as the release scale will be increased gradually.

@Wayne-TP Hi, I'm not sure when the latest firmware update is coming out for the H500 / C260 but as it stands l'm unable to continually record my C460 onto the hub as it's not compatible for continually recording yet.
Also have 3 C260 cameras and they Won't connect to the H500 Hub either, as they require a firmware update.
Given Ive got a H500 hub, 3x 260 cameras and 1x C460 camera, my experience so far isn't going well.
Regards
Dave

@Wayne-TP I have the same issue. I have not received the 1.3 firmware yet. My Storage is grayed out and I get an error when trying to turn on loop recording. It worked before and suddenly stopped working.

Have you received the new firmware notice for the 1.3.1 now? Make sure your hub's network access is stable, connect it to router with an ethernet cable if possible. You can also try to restart the hub.

@Wayne-TP Hi Wayne,
Just for reference, I've got the latest H500 1.3.1 firmware update, and it's resolved some issues, but created others, I've now lost all 24/7 recording from my C460 camera on the hub, despite it saying recording is on. I now have to rely on activations for all recordings, or disconnect it from the Hub all together, and rely on camera storage only.
One plus is that the H500 firmware 1.3.1 update has allowed continuous recording of my 3, C260 cameras to the H500 hub.

Do you mean the 24/7 capture recording? This is a new feature just added in firmware 1.3.1. In the previous version of the H500, your C460 should not be able to enable this feature when the camera's storage path is set to the H500.
