Feature Request – Add AAC Audio Codec Support for Tapo C125
Hello TP-Link Team,
I am a user of the Tapo C125 (Firmware version: 1.3.2 Build 241122 Rel. 43589n). I’ve noticed that the camera currently only streams live audio using PCM A-law (G.711a). While recordings are clear, the live audio stream often suffers from crackling or distortion in RTSP/NVR playback due to codec limitations and sample rate handling.
To improve audio quality and compatibility with third-party platforms (e.g., VLC, Blue Iris, Home Assistant, and other ONVIF/RTSP clients), I would like to kindly request the addition of AAC audio codec support in a future firmware update.
AAC would provide:
-
Cleaner, higher-quality audio with fewer artifacts
-
More efficient bandwidth usage compared to G.711a
-
Better compatibility with modern NVRs, software clients, and smart home integrations
This enhancement would significantly improve the user experience for Tapo C125 owners who rely on RTSP and ONVIF streaming.
Thank you very much for considering this request, and I appreciate the great work you are doing with the Tapo product line.
Best regards,
