H500 going offline each day
I got an H500 with the latest firmware in July which seemed to work fine for the first two weeks. When we went on vacation all the Tapo devices connected through the H500 went offline after a few days. I was able to reboot them from afar by using smart plugs from a different brand but the H500 still kept going offline.
Since then the H500 goes offline pretty much every day. It has a stable connection with a mesh repeater in the same room. Is it a faulty product?

@Jim8456 Yes. I even moved to a different Wifi brand during that time. There is a wifi mesh hub in the same room as the H500. Wifi connection is not the problem. I have tons of smart devices. None has this problem and whats the point to have the home security hub, when it's offline all the time and unable to record. It never attempts to reconnect to the Wifi when it is offline and I have to plug it out and back in. I even set a smart plug to do this automatically at night but that still doesn't guarantee that it crashes and is offline the whole day without me noticing. It might be faulty, but this looks very much like a firmware problem.
The problem persists since 5 months. I am giving up on it.

thanks for replying quickly,
Unfortunately, I don't have a guest network, and even if I try with a hotspot I might never see the problem.
The issue is random; it works for days and then, for no reason, goes offline just as Jim8456 stated. I have to force shutdown to resolve it.
I received the ticket acknowledgement email and activated debug mode. I hope this helps.

Just to add to this conversation...
I'm also having the same issue now. The hub goes offline every day or so without reason. The network (Deco) is good solid mesh and we have dozens of smart and wifi-enabled devices (also all Tapo) connected it without issue.
Doing some testing and as far as I can tell, if there is even a micro-outage on the wifi the hub will not reconnect?
The only way to fix this is to hard reset the hub?
This thing was not cheap, so considering sending it back.

Is your H500 connected via WiFi? Please verify whether the hub is still connected to the WiFi (check deco online client list) when it appears offline in the Tapo app. Will the hub switch to another deco when it goes offline?

@Jim8456
I ended up returning the one I purchased in November of 2025.
Really wanted to use it. I purchased several Tapo Cameras (c236, c246d and 4 C113s) and wanted facial recognition.
The first H500 I got failed within 2 weeks. It would go off and online and one day I realized the Ethernet wasn't connecting even though the cable was plugged in. Tried several cables, nada. Reset, nada. Would not add back to app since no Ethernet detected. Again, tried different cables and spots (switches, directly to router, etc.) Returned it for an exchange.
The second H500 worked a bit longer. Today I noticed the same thing started happening but it was more pronounced because the app kept telling me to connect an Ethernet cable with the cable plugged in. This time not only was the cable plugged in but the green LED was lit up. Reset and tried to connect and it would not detect the H500 while connected through Ethernet, even with the LED lit up. Router also didn't show the H500 while Ethernet connected.
I thought about doing another exchange, but at this point, I'm calling it quits. Next time it may fail outside of the return window and Tapo support is not helpful at all. Either they've shipped out a bunch of pre-release/beta H500s to Amazon customers or these are the trashiest things Tapo has ever put into production.

Hi, thanks for your massage. I have 4 camera's including a doorbell. Ik now bought a H200. The H200 and H500 are connected to the router. Until now the H200 is performing well...the H500 again offline..... if this continues I plan to return the H500....
