Hi,

 

I thought it might be a good idea to install VPN on my recently bought Archer BE3600. Unfortunately I cannot find any option about VPN in the configuration menu (192.168.0.1). The router operation mode is "Access Point". Does this have any effect or might be the reason for it?

Yes, for most models, the VPN feature can only work in Wireless Router Mode. You can refer to What’s the difference between the Access Point Mode and Router Mode on the TP-Link wireless router?
