Hi everyone! 👋

I’ve spent a lot of time trying to compare the Tapo solar-powered camera models — especially C410, C420, C425, C460, c610, c630 (and i only discover these solar panel modells but tell me if there are more) — but I still can’t figure out all the important differences between them. I’d really appreciate some expert help from the community to understand these models better. I’m planning to buy one soon, so I’d like to choose wisely.

Here are some questions I’d love your help with:

1. What are the main differences between the liste cameras above (solar versions)?

2. Do all of these models support local storage (microSD)?

3. How do they compare in terms of video quality (day/night), field of view, and motion detection accuracy?

4. Are there any differences in connectivity — for example, which cameras require a hub and which ones can work without it?

5. Do they all support smart features like person detection, vehicle detection, or color night vision?

6. Are there any known pros and cons for each model (e.g. reliability, battery life, firmware updates, solar charging efficiency)?

7. Can any of these cameras record 24/7, continuously, instead of motion-based recording only?

8. Is the Tapo TC85 the same model as the C425, or just a regional naming difference?

If anyone has hands-on experience with multiple models or has done a comparison themselves, your insights would be super helpful! 🙏

Thanks in advance for helping me (and probably many others) get a clear overview of these solar Tapo cameras.

There is a Compare tool on our official website, which you can use to compare the products. What's the difference between the TP-Link Products?

If you need to check more specific product specifications, download their datasheet. Most of your inquiries about the product specification can be answered there. TP-Link Download Center

All these cameras support local storage. The Tapo C420 is a bit different from other models, it is a Tapo SubGHz device that needs to be used a Tapo hub (H200 or H500). The camera video will be stored on the hub, which has a microSD card slot, while the camera does not.

All current available Tapo battery cameras do not support 24/7 continuous recording. However, there is a new feature that could do similar things -- 24/7 Capture. It is available on some new battery camera models like Tapo C460, C660, and TC92. Check this article to learn more about this feature: 24/7 Capture: See what happens all day long and never miss a critical moment

Tapo C425 and TC85 are two models, but they do share the same software features. Different products may have various hardware versions, and updates may occur in certain software and hardware aspects. For specific information, please refer to the corresponding datasheet or consult technical support.
