Why doesn’t tp-link allow me to update my email address for managing my devices?
I have a large number of tp-link devices at home, (cameras plugs etc) which were installed a number of years ago. I have been managing them from my Android devices using the Tapo related apps on Google Play.The cameras are helping me significantly with my home security.
Recently I have changed my email address that I need to use to login to my Tapo account. To my astonishment the Tapo apps do not offer me a facility to update my email address to the new one. Yet pretty much every other app i use from 8ther providers has a setting to update my profile details including email address.
I contacted tp-link Support informing them of my need to update my email address used for logging in to the apps. To my astonishment they tell me that the only way to change my email address is to create a totally new account for the apps. This would force me to spend a huge amount of time setting up my complete home system from scratch. I informed them that due to the large number of devices I have this would be extremely difficult for me and and take along time. I asked why can't they do what every other app provider does and provide me the ability to change my profile details Their response was totally unhelpful, making it clear to me me that they are too lazy to enable me to fully operate my tp-link devices with the Tapo apps. They clearly prefer me to spend hours, days or even weeks, struggling to update my Tapo apps when they could easily offer me a new profile update facility in their appsinstead.
I am appalled by tp-link's attitude that they can't be bothered offer customers the ability to update their personal profile in the Tapo apps like every other app I use offers to their customers. What's wrong with tp-link that causes them to refuse to help customers in this matter?
