Model: Archer BE550
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 20250813 rel.27119(4555)

Recently my router (Archer BE550 v1.0)  was updated to 1.2.1 Build 20250813 rel.27119(4555) and since then I have problems.
My setup is like this:
Internet gateway, DHCP and DNS server is OpnSense. My Archer is connected with a cable in Access point Mode .
When I connect a wireless device (Andoid 14, Macbook M1 Air), they can't use 2.4GHz (connected but no internet, no ping to the OpnSense) but after a few minutes on Wifi7 , ping to the gateway and internet resources is available.

I tried pinging the router from the OpnSense and it's being pinged without issues and I can manage the Archer from another wired device. I need help to solve it as it's pointless to have a wireless router if it doesn't work reliably. Sadly the latest upgrade states that downgrade is not possible.

Tests I did:
1. Ping from Archer to the gateway fails in Access point Mode but passes on Wireless router mode
2. Ping from MacOS (2.4GHz) to OpnSense gateay - fails
3. Ping from MacOS (Wifi7) to OpnSense gateway - works after a few minutes, stops after another couple of minutes and repeats the cycle

4. Ping from OpnSense to Archer always passes

5. Reset to factory and load a backup from October - no change

What worked for me:

1. Full factory reset

2. Login with the credentials written on the router

3. Pass the setup Wizard

4. Validate 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz works

5. Change Operation to Access point mode

6. Follow the wizard

7. Setup everything step by step (Wireless, logs shipping, time server, etc) and reboot after each step

8. If your Android device has issues on 2.4GHz, click on '2.4 GHz Advanced Settings' and change the 'Mode' to '802.11b/g/n'

Hi,

Did you also test the 2.4 GHz connection between the reset to factory and loading a backup from October?

Resetting and then reloading an old backup usually doesn't help much on TP-Link routers.

I can't recall (most probably I didn't) but I can test it in a few hours. I think the problem is in the operation mode and it's quite awkward why on Wifi7 the connection works half of the time (ping drop is around 48% for 1000 attempts).

After a few days without restarts, Wifi7 has less than 1% loss while wifi 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz have 100% loss.

When I tested restore, I also tested with the backup from the same version.

I hope support involves in this or I will have no choice but to return the router to Amazon.

I did another test where router was factory reset, configured and I connected a client.

Both 2

2.4GHz and 5Ghz work as expected and ICMP is received on the firewall which proves the hardware is not broken, but the firmware is causing troubles.

Seems the issue is not fully resolved as the router responds on both the IP from my network (10.X.X.20) and 192.168.1.1 . If my gateway was configured to be 192.168.1.1,  it would lead to an outage.

Can you please clarify the problem in more detail?

Do you mean you can enter either 10.X.X.20 or 192.168.1.1 in a web browser and in both cases the login page of the BE550 appears?

  @woozle I'm still investigating.

It could be is other device as the MAC '00:90:27:E5:90:C6' doesn't match the Internet port MAC address of the BE550 but I'm not ruling any other interface on it.

Sadly I can't create a capture from the device and the options in the diagnostic page are quite limited.

The symptoms that I'm still experiencing from my Android is:

- wifi 2.4 -> very slow

- wifi 7 -> slower than before , higher ping to the gateway

If you know a way to collect more troubleshooting data from the router would be helpful.

I will try to find any way to troubleshoot the latency issues observed on the android device and revert back if I find anything.

That MAC address belongs to a range assigned to Intel. Nowadays Intel only makes network cards, although years ago they also made some chipsets for routers. But it can't be the BE550.
