Hi,

I hope someone can help me. I've many devices on Tapo smart plugs in my apartment and several automations set up involving them. I recently bought 2 P110 energy monitoring plugs to be able to use an automation that will do the following: turn my TV Backlight (Govee T2) on when power useage is above 10W on the P110 that my TV is plugged in to, and the reverse for when the TV turns off.

I've tried many things, but the power level won't show up as an automation trigger in the Tapo app, Alexa or Google Home. Despite this, the plugs report energy useage fine and show everything in each app.

How do I get the power useage to be a trigger for automations? It should be there in addition to power on/off according to everything I've read. Is there another type of smart plug that can do this automation if the P110 doesn't?

Thanks in advance,

Greg

This feature is not supported on the Tapo P110.

If it's any use I came up with a solution that works. You can set the automation up in Google Home. Make sure your Tapo plugs are set to default state "last on state" in each plug's settings. Also you need your TV linked to Google Home so it shows as a device under starters (which with the LG CX was a chore in itself. You need to do it through the Thinq app).

The Google Home automation is:

Starter: TV on

Action: TV backlight on (this is what I've named the Govee T2)

It now works and whenever I turn the TV on from standby it turns on the Govee T2 about 2 seconds later. It also turns off when the TV turns off.

Hope this helps!

Greg
