Description

When an AC-powered Tapo camera or doorbell is connected to the Tapo H500, there is a Screen Mirror feature that allows users to cast the camera live stream to a bigger screen device (e.g. TV) via an HDMI cable.

While watching the camera’s live feed via HDMI screen mirroring, you might occasionally notice some buffering, slight delays, or even interruptions. If you do experience similar abnormalities on your devices, the firmware provided in this article could help. Keep looking to learn about how to apply for the firmware!

Before you proceed, be aware that HDMI output behavior depends on the recording configuration. If your camera is set to record detection videos only, it is normal to receive the 'Live Stream Paused' prompt when no events are detected.

1. Event-Based Recording: The live feed will only display when the camera detects motion or events.
2. Continuous Recording: Allows uninterrupted live streaming via Screen Mirroring

Solution

Beta firmware has been sent to your device, you may check it later in the Tapo app and perform the update.

  @Wayne-TP hi Wayne!

I don't see where there is any new firmware loaded. There doesn't seem to be any place to apply a firmware update, and the firmware checker says it's up to date at 1.3.8.

Let me know what else I should be looking at. Thanks.

  @Wayne-TP

Could you fill in the blanks for me? Either my H500 does not have beta code, or I am not understanding how to apply it.

Thanks.

  @sroza1

Your hub is already on the beta version. It might have the 'auto-update' enabled, so the hub will update the firmware automatically when it detects a new version.

  @Wayne-TP

Thanks Wayne.

Next time you need to do a firmware update like this, let the consumer know what version they should expect to be on their unit. That would have solved all of my questions 4 days ago.

  @Wayne-TP so just to make it clear, if my hub shows on firmware version 1.3.8 Build 20251024 rel.82184, does that mean I won't get anything new by installing this beta, since I'm supposed to already have it installed? Cheers

  @Regnum  What do you mean by the 'new'? The future official firmware?

  @Wayne-TP Yeah, I'm wondering if I already have the beta version offered in this thread installed on my H500, because if that's the case I obviously won't ask for access to download something I already have :D

No, firmware 1.3.8 Build 20251024 rel.82184 is not the beta version.
