Tapo Doorbell TD21 will not wake up unless app is open
Hiya,
Our new TD21 doorbell camera will not wake up when movement is detected, unless the app/live view is open on my phone. I have tried resetting up the doorbell, but we have the same problem. It was fine for the first three weeks, but will now not work.
I have attached screenshots of the settings, however the video is too large to attach.

As a battery-powered doorbell, TD21 stays in sleep mode most of the time to conserve battery. When the PIR sensor detects movement, it will wake up the doorbell, then the doorbell will start detection and recording. PIR sensors work by detecting changes in thermal radiation in their environment. In your current setup, it seems like the doorbell is aimed at monitoring a parking space, where vehicles typically reverse into the view from a distance (radial motion), correct?. This type of movement produces a relatively weak thermal shift, which may not be strong enough to reliably trigger the sensor, leading to delayed or missed wake‑ups. In contrast, lateral motion, such as moving across the field of view from left to right, creates a more distinct thermal gradient, allowing the doorbell to wake promptly and begin recording. When you open the live view in the app, you wake the doorbell up manually, so it starts detecting and recording right away.

I have the same problem, mine is set up to detect in all areas but doesn't wake up at all, was Okey for a few weeks but will only wake if I click into live view. This happened when it did a update. I've tried rebooting several times changing the detection settings but nothing.

@Wayne-TP yes updated it a few weeks ago as I had a notification to say I needed one. It says my firmware is up to date it's version :1.1.0 build 251015 rel.59297n
