Monday
Model: Archer BE3600
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.0.4 Build 20250519 rel.47087(4A50)

I have recently bought BE3600 to replace AX20. I have six extenders, all from TP-Link (3 RE505X, 2 RE305v3, 1 RE300) and OneMesh compatible. I reconnected each of the six extenders to BE3600 and they were nicely working as a mesh network. However, when I rebooted the router, I have lost connection to all the extenders. I rebooted the router again but it did not help. Then I rebooted one of the extenders, and all of sudden the router connected to all extenders

I called the TP-Link support (Japan), and the support lady told me that it is not guaranteed that the extenders re-connect to the router when the router is rebooted. At the same time she admitted that it is not normal that all the extenders loose connection upon the reboot of the router, and it is a strange behavior that the connection to all extenders revived by rebooting just one of the extenders. The support did not have any more information, and suggested as a workaround not to reboot the router.

I asked her if there is any potential settings to avoid the connection loss and she said she did not know. BE3600 is EasyMesh compatible and there is a toggle switch on the router to enable EasyMesh, which is ON as default. I asked her if I turn off EasyMesh would the router still connect to the extenders on OneMesh, and she again said she did not know but the recommendation was to keep it ON.

Now my questions--

1. If all extenders are only compatible with OneMesh and not with EasyMesh, can I disable EasyMesh on the router, or would it disable both EasyMesh and OneMesh?

2. Is there any information as to the RCA for the connection loss to extenders upon BE3600 reboot?  Note that clients directly connected to BE3600 do not have any impact.

3. Combining 1 and 2, would it better to disable EasyMesh on BE3600 when all the extenders are only compatible with OneMesh?

4. The support told me it is not recommended to have more than 2 extenders for one mesh Archer router (any model). Is it true?

Hello @J-BOY59 ,

Welcome to our community.

You can build up a mesh system with TP-Link EasyMesh and OneMesh™ devices. In other words, you can still build up a mesh network if you have “EasyMesh router + Onemesh extender” or “OneMesh router + EasyMesh extender”. For more details, please see General questions about EasyMesh.

Therefore, there is no need to disable the EasyMesh feature.

For question 4, it's not that having more than two range extenders is discouraged; rather, the number of connections for satellite units should be determined based on the actual network usage environment.

Of course, the suggestion from local technical support is also valid, as we recommend having 1-2 range extenders on a single network for better performance. You can refer to Most frequently asked questions about TP-Link range extenders.

For question 2, we also need additional information to confirm the cause. Did you happen to test whether restarting any range extender would automatically cause other range extenders to connect to the Mesh network? If it's a specific range extender, what is its model number?

  @Joseph-TP

For Q2, I do not think it was a specific extender. For this instance it was RE-505X, but it could be any one.

As of this writing the mesh network is working fine and I would dare not reboot the router. So you think the issue has nothing to do with the EasyMesh setting on BE3600?

Hello  @J-BOY59 ,

Since we haven't received feedback similar to what you described, we need more information to pinpoint the cause.

If the network stabilizes now, we recommend continuing to monitor for a while.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any update.
