Model: H110 Smart IR & IoT Hub

Firmware: 1.4.4 Build 251031 Rel.111523

App Version (Android): 3.17.109

App Version (iOS): 3.17.105

Platforms tested: iPadOS, Android, Bluestacks

Networks tested: multiple routers and Wi‑Fi environments

Summary

The Tapo app displays offline status inconsistently across platforms. iPadOS shows clear “Local Only” indicators, while Android shows no offline indication at all. Disconnected devices also appear differently between platforms.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Disconnect the internet.
  2. Keep the hub and devices powered on the LAN.
  3. Compare the UI on iPadOS, Android, and Bluestacks.
  4. Disconnect a smart plug or the hub entirely and compare again.

Observed Behaviour

iPadOS:

  • Hub tile shows “Local Only” label.
  • The IR remote screen displays a message indicating that the remote can only be controlled locally.
  • Disconnected devices disappear from the UI.

Android / Bluestacks:

  • No offline indication on the hub tile.
  • No offline indication on the IR remote screen.
  • Disconnected devices remain visible but marked as “Disconnected.”

Expected Behaviour

  • Offline indicators should be consistent across platforms.
  • Users should be clearly informed when the hub is in local‑only mode.
  • Disconnected devices should behave consistently across iOS and Android.
  • This expectation is based on the product documentation, which states that the hub remains controllable on the local network even when the external internet is unavailable.

Impact

  • Users may not realize the hub is offline.
  • Silent failures become harder to diagnose.
  • Cross‑platform behaviour becomes unpredictable.
  • Troubleshooting becomes inconsistent.

Request

Could the engineering team please clarify whether the offline UI differences between iOS and Android are intentional?

If not, is a unified offline UI planned for future updates?

Thank you for your attention,

Best Regards,

John
