The Samsung 256GB EVO Plus card is confirmed to be incompatible with all Tapo cameras
The Samsung 256GB EVO Plus (U3, V30, A2, SDXC1) card is confirmed to be incompatible with all Tapo and Kasa cameras
This is a quote from tp-link.com/us/support/faq/3048/
Does anyone own this card and have experience with it? Could someone explain exactly why? What this incompatibility is and what the symptoms are? I happen to own this card, and the issues I’ve reported with the camera have nothing to do with it. Please share your experiences.

Hi
In my opinion, that would be strange, to say the least. Incompatibility is one thing, but the durability of the storage medium is another. I understand that after a year, such a card might need to be replaced. But does that mean it’s incompatible? I have my doubts. I still don’t know what’s going on.

The compatibility conclusion is given based on extensive testing across multiple scenarios, what I have mentioned is only one of the reasons, although I personally think it is quite an important aspect.
Durability is critical for SD cards, especially in devices like security cameras that constantly read and write data. If a brand-new card starts acting up soon after installation, or worse, if multiple cards show the same issue, most users wouldn’t suspect the card itself at first (or at all). And as you’ve probably noticed from browsing the community, this does happen. What makes it tricky is that the issue isn’t always a complete failure. Sometimes the card behaves inconsistently, it might work again after restarting the camera or reformatting, only to fail again later.
Therefore, it is quite important to use SD cards specifically designed for continuous recording or high-endurance use in the first place. Cards not built for security camera workloads are more likely to run into performance or stability issues over time. Choosing the right card from the start can help avoid unexpected glitches down the road.

I believe this sd card is not designed for write-intensive devices like security cameras. You can actually find disclaimers in their warranty policy: "Warranty does not extend to dashcam, CCTV, surveillance camera, and other write‑intensive uses."
