Power limit exceeded for 5 min before shutdown
Please advise how shutdown takes 5+/- minutes after limit exceeded. Tapo smart wall outlet.

Are you referring to the Power Protection feature? To trigger power protection, the connected load must steadily exceed the set threshold for a sustained period. A momentary power spike will not activate it.

Yes, the power limit setting. Its feeding an electric fireplace, limited to 1000w, on the fireplace low heat setting. I wasn't aware there was a duration of excessive draw before shutdown. Where can I read up on this?
Prior to using the smart plug the fireplace had an overheat condition and burned out a connection. I've set the limit to avoid this, and also a 2hr off/on cycle.
This is so if I leave the house forgetting its on it will shut down.
