Model: Tapo C660 KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.7

Hello.

I bought this camera one week ago, and mounted outside. It used to work well until yesterday where it started to do weird things.

The camera gets stuck in a certain position and always comes back to this position. It always returns to this position, and when I try to move (pan & tilt) it with the numeric pad, it seems to "stuck" during the movements. At the end, whatever the position I reach with the d-pad, the camera goes back to this strange unusable position.

I reset it (3s on the reset button), check for firmware update, add it and remove it from the Tapo app, and still the same. There is no patrol mode. SD card has been formatted.

I have a video of this issue, recorded in youtube : https://youtube.com/shorts/_QSfMOlCDLs

On this video you can see I try to control the cam with the Tapo app, I let the "Left arrow" down, but the camera is like jerking when moving partially to the left.

Does this happen even when you hold the camera in your hand? The way the camera is secured in your video could be creating a physical blockage that might cause the pan‑tilt function to jam.

For this issue, please double‑check whether the rubber seal on the camera’s SD card slot is correctly fitted. If it isn’t fully closed, it can disrupt the normal pan‑tilt movement.

It happends when I hold it, or when it was mounted to a mast. In the video, I bind the cam to a chair, but it could move without constraint. What you see in the video is exactly what happends in live condition.

And, the rubber seal was properly closed (I double checked that), and they were no grass, twig, wood stick stuck in the camera axis (it was my initial assumption, a bee or something stuck in the axis).

Try to factory reset the camera, see if that helps. To do that, you will need to press the Reset button for 10 seconds.
