Model: Tapo C320WS
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.42

I have 2 C32WS cameras. Both say same hardware version in the app, yet one shows 1.91 firmware version, and the other 1.42. Why?

I've checked for updates and none. How can they both be so far apart on firmware versions?

Hi,

Tapo devices receive firmware updates in phases, so not all units are updated simultaneously—even if they share the same model and hardware version. Please allow a few weeks for the rollout to complete.

For more details, please visit: What can I do if Tapo/Kasa Smart Devices fail to update the firmware?

@Hilbert-TP I can understand that, but these versions are miles apart.

So either mine have fell off the "waiting list" or something isn't working.

Hello,

I understand your concern about the version numbers. However, for your specific camera model, the firmware versions 1.4.2 and 1.9.1 are part of the same sequential update path. The jump in numbering does not indicate a major functional gap or that your device has been skipped.

Firmware updates are released in controlled batches to ensure stability across all devices. It will automatically receive version 1.9.1 when its batch is pushed to your region. This process is typically completed within a few weeks of the rollout's start.

Please keep your camera connected and enable auto-update to ensure it receives the update as soon as it’s available for your device. We appreciate your patience.

Best Regards,
