Model: HS100
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: Unknown

Context - BTWholeHome mesh WiFi, iPhone 6s iOS 12.3.1

I have-

  • meticulously and repeatedly followed the installation steps.
  • triple checked the WiFi password is correct
  • made sure there is no active VPN connection or attempt to make one.
  • factory reset the HS100

Despite this the HS100 never connect to my WiFi. Other 2.4ghz devices are connected entirely correctly.

I can join the HS100 network (but no WiFi symbol appears when I do) although it takes some minutes

It locates my WiFi and i enter the network password

”Connecting to your home network” appears, but the little green ring just keeps going round until eventually I get a “connect to your WiFi” message telling me to connect to my network.

Is this happening because my phone will only connect to 5ghz and I have no way of making it do otherwise?

My setup is not an unusual one, I am deeply disappointed it is proving so hard to connect the HS100 to it.

Any suggestions as to what I can do?

OK, this WAS a VPN problem.

it was not enough to trust the HS100 network andtell TunnelBear not to connect. I had to actually log out.

solved!
