Difficulty formatting SD card on Tapo C200 camera
I have purchased a Tapo C 200 camera and a 128 sd card from Amazon.
The camera is working ok but it will not format the SD card and I get a message that there was a problem formatting it. I have tried formatting with the camera/app without success. To test the SD card I formatted it in my Canon camera and it worked fine, recording photos as normal. I formatted in the Canon camera again and tried it in the Tapo 200 without success. I tried the reset button but got the same results. It would appear the camera is faulty in respect of the SD formatting.
Don’t want to return it if possible. Any suggestions.

hi, if you go back to my previous posts, i spent quite abit of time with Tapo engineers and it became clear that the 128gb cards do not work with the tapo cameras, we (me and engineers) struggled to format it to the required fat32 that the camera would accept. It didnt matter what card manufacturer . I gave up and went for smaller size, 32gb, formatted it in the camera and set it on loop. Its been working fab since january 2020, no issues, records, saves etc.

The TP-LINK should NOT advertise the 128GB sd card limitation, as this device WILL NEVER accept the 128gb card, only 64 or 32 gb cards, in FAT32 file system...Its a pain, as 64gb is not mutch, also the other disadvantage, is that they don`t provide any kind of cloud based storage, or storage on an other computer for an example... otherwise great product, besides the stated bits above...
3 stars from 5...

I seem to have a common problem - purchased camera and 128 gig micro SD (Sandisk ultra) from amazon. I can't see where I format the card in the app. If I insert it into the camera, I get the message that there is a problem with the card.
I've tried resetting the camera and relinking it, but there is never an option that comes up about formatting the card.
I have checked the card on my laptop, and it is recognised on there as an empty card.
Where abouts on the app is the option to format the card?

See previous posts, you cannot use a 125gb, try a 32 or 64@Foxtrotter

I think I have figured out my problem with the camera ! The reason why the SD cards I purchased several months ago didn't work is because the cards have problems themselves. The two Sandisk A2 Extreme microSDXC UHS-I(V30)not only failed to work on Tapo but also on my car video recorders! I don
t think it has to do with the SD card size. I later inserted other Sandisk 128 GB SD cards and they all worked! I guess I probably bought fake sD Cards
because they are too cheap!

@Jholeana I have resolved my issue by using a 64gig card. Clearly they need to change their statements about the camera holding up to a 128 gig card. It's more than a coincidence that so many people have an issue with that size card.

@Foxtrotter i think there is a problem in tapo C200 boz come to think of it. You do'nt need to format the sd card in any computer or laptop because the camera itself can format.. even i try to format for how manny time still doesn;t work... i though the memory is defective but it not. I try to insert in Shri Home camer and has not problem. and i inset also in my phone it work also. so the memory is functioning properly... maybe there something wrong with the Tapo C200 hopefully they solve it...
