Tapo C200 / Tapo App - Delayed notifications on Android 11
Hi,
There is an issue with the notification handing of the Tapo app on Android 11.
When my smartphone display is on, notifications for movement detection arrive just in time. But when my smartphone display is off, the push notifications are often delayed by several minutes.
I use the Tapo C200 as baby monitor. But the notifications are useless when they don't arrive just in time.
I turned adaptive battery and every optimization off on my Google Pixel 4a and it doesn't fix the issue. As soon the phone is in idle mode, Tapo notifications are delayed.
I think the app needs some optimization according to the new Android version / doze handling.

We would like to forward your case to the senior engineers and please help us check the following information as well:
1. Did other APPs on the Google Pixel 4A have the delay notification as well, or just Tapo APP?
2. Could you please test on a different phone, a different system maybe, like IOS system?
3. Normally, how long would the notification be delayed?
4. How long have you had the camera and when did this issue start?

Hi,
1. Yes, GMail for example. But many other apps' push notifications aren't delayed (e.g. messenger apps).
2. I don't have any iOS device. But on my wife's Samsung Galaxy S8 (Android 9) seems to be no delay.
3. It is very irregular. About 2 to 45 minutes or until I unlock my phone. The longer the device was idle, the longer the delay appears to be.
4. I've had the camera since November 1st and the problem persisted from the start.

@TP-Link is there any fix for above issue as i am facing same issue with latest version of android OS v11. Notifications are delayed if screen is off or phone is idle. Please help as this is very important for baby monitor use to get notifications in real time.

TP-Link contacted me via e-mail a few days later. They asked me the standard questions about notification settings and battery optimization. I told them that they have to optimize their app for android doze mode. Since then I haven't received an answer.
I replaced the Tapo cam with an Eufy Indoor 2k cam, which seem to work perfectly well. Notifications work much better and the Eufy security app is much more responsive and reliable.
What helps is to disable "deviceidle" on your smartphone via developer tools / adb after every single reboot. This is not a solution since this has a huge impact on the battery and to do this you need some expertise about Android / command line.

Was the Tapo APP the only program that got delayed notification?
What are the model number and operating system of your smartphone?
Did it only start when the smartphone is on the sleep mode?

Samsung S10+, Android 10
Only app experiencing 2-3min Tapo notification delays. Whatsapp notifications come through immediately.
Like the other person, it's only Tapo thats impacted.
The original poster said he purchased a different camera, since TP Link support could not resolve, and no issues with that other camera.
So its Tapo app related.

Same here.
S10+, android 11. The camera just arrived from Amazon.
Turned off everything related to "battery save" and optimization.
Notifications arrive 2 or 3 minutes later, even when the screen is on.
I regret the purchase, I should have chosen another brand with a better support...
