Model: KP400
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I've had my KP400 device for about 3 weeks, and it's worked great, until the last few days. It's installed outside, 3 feet above ground level, pointed down, as the directions indicate to do. Only thing it's powering is less than 300W of Christmas string lights. It's displaying an "overheat" condition on the device and shuts down. I've since brought it inside to try to trouble shoot. Factory reset multiple times, and it appears that it's dead. It goes to overheat immediatly, with no devices plugged in.

Anything I can to do fix the device, or is it dead?

@kscessnadriver

Good day,

Sorry for the delay.

There is large possibility that the plug itself was broken.

And may I know where did you purchase this plug?

I might need to check with the senior engineers for further assistance and come back to you at once.

Thank you very much.

It worked fine for roughly 3 weeks. I purchased it on Amazon. Thanks for the help.

@TP-Link  Hello!

I've actually had a very similar issue with my KP400. I purchased the item a few weeks ago from Amazon and installed it just like the in-app instructions said to. Similar to the other user, I just have a string of Christmas lights connected to the outlet. It worked without any issues for a few weeks, but for the last few days it has sent me an overheating warning and shut off. Is there anything that can be done to fix the device?

@kscessnadriver - have you had any success in getting your product working again?

Thanks!

@TP-Link

I have had the very same experience. I bought the KP400 new from Amazon. Set it up outside for 2 LED flood lights. It worked fine for 10 days (maybe 50 hours) then reported overheating (on the app) and now it seems dead (no lights on the plug, can't be seen by my network/app).

What should I do next with this plug?

Thanks.

I've had no response on how to reset or fix the device. I've given up on it for now, I'll probably just stick to devices I know work well.

@GTWS

Hi GTWS

Sorry for the delay.

Have you tried to change another power socket and factory reset the KP400 to have a look?

If still nothing happened, please try to contact the shop retailer to ask for warranty service.

Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

@svdavid42

Hi,  svdavid42,

We would like to forward your case to the senior engineers and please have a check of your email box later.

At the same time, Could you please help me check the following information:

1. What is the model number of your Christmas string lights?

2. Did you have any idea whether this Christmas light is a resistive load or an inductive load?

3. Currently, even though there is no device connected to the KP400,  Would the APP  still show ‘overheat’ right?

Thank you very much.

@TP-Link

I am having the same issue. Purchased from Amazon about 3-4 weeks ago. Followed all the same set up as the OP and it's burnt out. Could you please assist?
