What is the technical reason why the Tapo app is not working over different networks/subnets? It is not a routing issue, because ping and RTSP do work over different networks/subnets.

I have read multiple threads in the community for this issue, the answer is always that the app and camera’s should be in the same network/subnet else it doesn’t work. I would like to understand why it doesn’t work. Can you please give a technical reason? Because I can think of a lot of reasons why this should work, security to start with.
